Our Immune System

70% of our immune system is located in our gut. ‘Our immune system in the gut does more work in one day than the rest of the immune system does in its whole lifetime.' (iFM immune conference 2011) Taking a probiotic containing lactobacillus, can be very beneficial in preventing gastro intestinal problems and for overall health. Vitamin D which we make mainly from exposure to sunlight is very important for our immune system, bone health and muscle function. Many in the UK have low level of vitamin D due to limited sunlight, so make the most of being outdoors in the summer, and check to see if you need a supplement (ask your GP).
